CGML currently manages a Property Portfolio valued in excess of $200m.  The types of property within the portfolio range from Retail Complexes to Office Towers and includes future development opportunities.
  • John Chow
    John ChowFounder

    John is an entrepreneur and visionary, with an eye for strategic planning.   His self-admitted hunger for success and will to win, has resulted in building a successful property and business portfolio from humble beginnings running a Chinese takeaway.

    John’s transition from small business owner to becoming a corporate entity and rich-lister has taken effort, a clear understanding of where he wants to go and the fearlessness to predict and react to market changes before they happen.

    John formed the Chow Group with his brother Michael in 1999 which today includes interests in non-bank financing, commercial property, health and fitness, hotels and lodging, adult entertainment, serviced offices, home building, food and beverage.  Day to day, John takes the lead on INNO Capital, Stonewood Homes, Park Ave Residence and the recently announced Rotorua Hotel.  

  • Michael Chow
    Michael ChowFounder

    Michael is the younger of the two Chow brothers, who as an entrepreneur has overcome incredible odds to achieve success.  His strength is operations management.  With a hands-on approach to the day to day, Michael has solid market insights in the sectors where the brothers operate and an enviable network of movers and shakers.    Today, like his brother John, he is reaping the rewards of his hard work, moving from the family owned Chinese fast food outlet to co-owner of a $400m commercial property and business portfolio.

    With responsibility for the commercial property side of the business, overcoming battles with Councils, and changing perceptions has not only honed his desire to succeed, but been a key to success.   Michael also takes day to day responsibility for the Urban Hub, Capital Market Food Court, Exodus and the vast entertainment portfolio.  Like John, Michael is driven to achieve $1 billion in assets by 2020.

  • Vicki Chow
    Vicki ChowDirector

    Vicki studied a BCA at Victoria University and gained experience in roles within New Zealand and Hong Kong.   She has played an integral role at CGML where she has been responsible for business innovation, marketing and events for more than a decade.

    With an eye for detail balanced with a creative streak, Vicki also lends senior management advisory support to Exodus Club.    She is now responsible for the group’s hotel portfolio and driving owner expectations with appointed hotel management companies.

    Beyond the office, Vicki is married with three kids who keep her on her toes.

  • Steven Zhu
    Steven ZhuProperty Operations Manager

    Steven has 10 years’ experience in commercial development projects, operations management, property and facilities management.

    Steven commutes between Wellington and Auckland maintaining a good business relationship with a range of professionals and contractors. He oversees the start up of various new business projects, such as Capital Market and Park Ave Residence, also dealing with ongoing work involving residential tenants and commercial leasing.

    He enjoys catching up with colleagues over  good food and wine on occasion. Outside of work, he loves travelling with his family.

  • Craig Jones
    Craig JonesGroup Financial Controller

    Craig has close to 20 years’ experience as a Chartered Accountant including 10 years in the property sector and before that with PWC.

    Craig leads the financial reporting requirements across the group.

    Day to day he’s responsible for financial & management reporting, budgeting, cash flow, compliance, bank financing, risk management, insurance, due diligence of potential investment opportunities and group structure.

    Away from work Craig enjoys spending time with family and friends.

    He is known to enjoy a round of golf and particularly the 19th hole.

  • Peter An
    Peter AnFinancial Manager

    Peter is a Chartered Accountant of CA ANZ with Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in both accounting and finance from Auckland and Otago Universities and has over 14 years’ corporate accounting and reporting experience in large multinational corporates.

    Peter supports in leading of the group finance team with the group CFO and to provide astute and reliable financial information to both internal and external interest parties to CGML group.

    Peter also provides management reports to executive management to determine project and company profitability, budget, forecast, and special reports required by NZX listed company policies and procedures for CGML group.

  • Brent Gilchrist
    Brent GilchristGroup Business Adviser

    Brent has put his Bachelor of Business Studies degree from Massey University to good use in a multi-faceted business career that includes 15 years as a private taxation and business consultant.

    Brent provides a business advisory role across the entire CGML group, specialising in strategic planning and review of contractual matters affecting day-to-day group business decisions, as well as providing business management support.

    Due to the group being spread over New Zealand, Brent spends a lot of time away from home, so enjoys his remaining time with his family, which extends to no less than 8 children. His golf game remains on hold.

  • Bevan Fair
    Bevan FairCommercial Property Manager

    Bevan brings over 10 years experience in commercial property to CGML and is responsible for the management of the expanding commercial portfolio.

    Bevan completed a Bachelor of Commerce and Post Graduate Diploma of Commerce at Victoria University.

    He commenced his career in property in 2006, and has spent the last five years working in the Auckland market before returning to Wellington.

    In his spare time Bevan strives to find a balance in life, enjoying sport, travel and spending time with friends and family.

  • Rex Wu
    Rex WuFinance and Investment Manager

    Originally from mainland China, Rex is experienced in corporate advisory, recovery, taxation and due diligence. 

    Rex embraces a hands-on approach providing guidance on compliance, internal group restructuring, and acting as a corporate ‘connector’ for local and overseas real estate investors. He is also responsible for exploring finance and investment opportunities, as well as potential real estate or business purchases.

    Rex is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese and is a huge fan of various sports including soccer, basketball and rugby. He plays competitive soccer every week.
